This month’s book reviews for Owlets are Nelson by Jude and Tor Freeman and Roodica the Rude and the Chariot Challenge by Margaret Ryan.

Flora and Annie are travelling on their own on a bus from Cape Town to stay with their grandparents for the summer. Flora is proud to be in charge! Staying with Ouma and Oupa is great fun but there’s one thing Flora doesn’t like at all – Nelson, the big red rooster. Flora knows she shouldn’t be afraid but can she overcome her fear? |
Roodica the Rude and the Chariot Challenge – Year 2

Long ago the Romans conquered Britain. They did lots of good things like introducing roads and encouraging people to take baths. But the Romans weren’t popular with everybody – including Queen Goodica’s daughter, Roodica the Rude. Copius Mucus is not her best friend and one thing she is determined to do is beat him in the chariot race. |
